Featured Artists : Geraldine McKeown![]() "Gentle Morning" Original Oil - 24" x 18" Geraldine McKeown Geraldine McKeown has been painting since childhood. She lives in the 1855 farmhouse of her Irish ancestors situated on land that has been in her family for seven generations. Her paintings reflect this deep sense of heritage and love of the rural countryside. She studied art at Towson University and the Barnes Foundation and began her study of painting with the legendary teacher, Ed Whitney. An accomplished artist working in traditional realism, her paintings reflect her intense interest in composition and design and the interplay of light and shadow. As a result she has been the recipient of numerous regional and national awards including the BWS Silver Medal and a number of other national awards including being selected to exhibit in the prestigious Art for the Parks National Competitions. Geradine's paintings have been featured on the covers of At the Head of the Bay: A Cultural and Architectural History of Cecil County, Maryland and Red Top Boots. Her paintings are also featured in the publications The Best of Watercolor I & II by Rockport Press and Artistic Touch III by Creative Art Press. Her paintings are in numerous private, public and corporate collections throughout the United States. A highlight of her career was to present a painting to Oprah Winfrey.
