Janine Wesselmann

Janine Wesselmann, known by both critics and collectors for her parodies of European and American social life, has been listed in Who's Who of American Women since 1983. She has been painting in oils since the age of six and in very unusual circumstances - through revolutions in 3rd world countries and ambassadorial parties in the capitals of Europe, on remote islands and in African jungles. Across four continents and two decades, the diplomat's daughter has painted a world of bazaars and fortune tellers, French cafés, and intimate soirees.

Janine is the first American woman artist to show at the Exposition des Printemps, Orange, France (1994) and at the Centro Culturale d'Italia, Rome (1995). In 1997 she was named Cultural Emmisary to France.

Her art work is in the Permanent Collection of the Museum d' Art Modern de la Ville de Paris.

Gallery 1000 exclusively represents Janine Wesselmann in California.
